Elizabeth and I were able to spend a couple of days at a very nice little resort named La Dolce Vita II on San Bas Beach last week, it is a restaurant and small hotel right on the beach front. La Dolce Vita is not a luxury hotel, but if you want something that is very affordable, clean and right on the beach this is a very nice place. The rooms range from $35 – $65 a night, rooms have bathroom with shower, cable TV, Air Condition and free Wi-Fi.
The owner Sr. Carmine Cedrola is from Italy, he is a Chef with an international background and he was named “Chef of the Year” for 2014 by the Salvadorian Restaurant Association. Sr. Cedrola relocated to El Salvador 20 years ago with his wife, who is from El Salvador. Sr. Cedrola teaches a culinary course at the local university and he has a cooking show on the TV network. Sr. Cedrola speaks very good English and Spanish, we found him very interesting and enjoyed talking with him. Elizabeth and I enjoyed the food at the restaurant, over the two days stay we enjoyed the calamari, the omelets, pizza and fried shrimp. The menu has a very good variety of seafood, pasta and local cuisine.
The beach is very clean and the sun rise and sun set were beautiful. Elizabeth and I enjoyed walking on the beach. I enjoy watching the ocean and the waves but I do not care to swim in the ocean. At night, in our room we could hear the ocean waves hitting the shore, I found it very peaceful. They have very nice swimming pools, one for adults and one for children at this hotel. We spent a lot of time in the pool, it was clean and very nice. Like I said I do not like to swim in the ocean, but I love the pool.
After two days we headed back home, but really enjoyed our little vacation. We would recommend La Dolce Vita II, it is a nice place, it was safe, affordable, the food was very good, staff was great and a special thanks to Jauiver Alvarado the manager, he was very helpful. Elizabeth and I hope to visit again soon.
